In line with the government's bilingual policy and the sharing of international education resources with high schools in the Hsinchu area, five foreign students from Japan, the Philippines, and Ukraine in the College of Management participated in a language exchange activity at noon on April 12, at the invitation of the Applied English Department(應用英語科) of National Hsinchu Commercial Vocational High School (HCCVS, 新竹高商). The theme of the event is "International Cultural Feast," where HCCVS students introduce local snacks to foreign students in English, and foreign students bring their own cultures for exchange and interaction.

The teacher from HCCVS stated that since foreign students from Minghsin University of Science and Technology come from 16 different countries, with the highest number of foreign students among all universities in Taiwan, they invited foreign university students to share their traditional cuisines with HCCVS students. HCCVS students introduced famous local food in English and used the opportunity to converse with foreign students in English to get to know each other better and taste delicious food together.

HCCVS students said that they prepared seriously to introduce Hsinchu cuisine in English to foreign students. After actual interaction, they realized that oral expression was essential in communicating with foreigners. Through this exchange, students learned about different countries and even picked up some Ukrainian and Filipino dialects. As it happened to be "Pudding Festival(布丁節)" at HCCVS that day, they prepared yellow pudding to represent friendship and gave it to the foreign students in attendance.

Associate Dean of the College of Management said that they were delighted that foreign students in the College of Management could get to know high school students from Hsinchu through language exchange activities and learn about the "Hsinchu Food Map." The foreign students also gained a lot from the experience. (Source: College of Management)
