2023/11/14

Faculty and students from the Department of Hotel Management and Culinary Creativity (旅館管理與廚藝創意系) have recently garnered awards in consecutive international culinary competitions, including AFA and FHC. At the AFA World Trend Fair 2023 (韓國世界廚藝大賽) in South Korea, they secured one gold and one silver medal. Additionally, at the 24th FHC China International Culinary Arts Competition (中國國際烹飪藝術比賽), the team clinched an impressive three silver and one bronze medals.

Chair Shao Yun-long (邵雲龍) of the Department of Hotel Management and Culinary Creativity expressed that Professional Specialist (Assistant Professor) Liao Li-Kai (廖利凱) and student Tsai Shu-Jie (蔡書杰) participated in the AFA World Trend Fair 2023 held in Seoul, Korea, on November 3. Outshining 2,100 participants from various countries, they earned a gold medal in the "Natural Yeast Bread" category and a silver medal in the "European Bread" category.

Another team led by Professional Specialist (Assistant Professor) Wang Shen-Chang (王申長) participated in the 24th FHC China International Culinary Arts Competition held in Shanghai from November 8 to 10, achieving outstanding results with three silver and one bronze medals. Notably, Teacher Chen Wei-Jie (陳韋潔) from Miaoli's ChungShing Commercial Industrial Vocational High School (中興商工), under Wang's guidance, secured a silver medal in this competition, too.

Chair Shao mentioned that facing international competitions requires continuous practice, adjustments, and assistance students in resolving various challenges. Encouraging and stabilizing students' emotions are crucial, especially in large-scale international A-level competitions like this. Participating in various competitions, practicing through battles, and using competitions as training opportunities enable students to grow rapidly, embodying the practical spirit of vocational education.

Encouraging participation in international competitions not only brings glory and joy through winning medals but also pushes students to challenge their boundaries, refine their skills, and provides an opportunity to exchange and learn from culinary enthusiasts worldwide.
