A team from Pegatron Corporation(和碩聯合) visited MSUT on April 25 to discuss international talent cultivation. President Liu Kuo-Wei hosted the meeting and relevant faculty members also participated in the discussion.
The Chief Technology Officer and the Chief Operating Officer from Pegatron who attended the meeting stated that Taiwan's technology industry is becoming more globalized and they have set up or inspected factories in countries such as India, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Mexico to reduce regional risks and promote sustainable development. However, after completing the hardware installation in overseas factories, human resources and talent training became a major issue due to different cultures and regions.
President Liu Kuo-Wei introduced MUST's "Enterprise Overseas Talent Training Cooperation Plan," which provides customized courses for companies to train junior and middle-level executives in overseas factories. The plan also includes international students who study in Taiwan during their degree program, allowing them to earn academic credits and participate in internships. They also learn about the culture of Taiwan and the cooperating companies, fostering a sense of belonging and reducing the adjustment period and talent loss.
The Office of International Affairs indicated that over the past five years, more than 50 foreign students from the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering have participated in this program and received scholarships from companies. In March of this year, the Indian ambassador and his delegation visited MUST, acknowledging the program and expressing a desire to collaborate with Indian schools in semiconductor projects.
The visiting group of Pegatron affirmed and recognized the effectiveness of MSUT's international talent training and its long-term planning. They showed a high level of interest in cooperation and plan to have existing overseas factory employees participate in the "Enterprise Overseas Talent Training Cooperation Plan" in the initial stage. They also look forward to more talent cultivation and industry-academic collaboration in the future. (Data provided by the International and Cross-Strait Education Center)
